About Elland Our Place

We want to support young people as a priority in terms of opportunities this includes raising levels of participation, activities and volunteering. We will work with local schools, youth clubs and other organisations working with young people in the area . We want to work with local businesses to cultivate apprenticeships which would provide opportunities for those aged 16-25years living in Elland.

Through Elland Our Place we will support local businesses. Elland has fantastic potential to be a thriving town centre but does suffer from a high turnover of shops and some empty premises which demonstrates the challenges facing our local businesses. We want to work with businesses to look at options to support local enterprise which could include apprenticeships and also identifying other support that is required. By engaging with businesses, the local authority and the wider community we also hope to identify other support and initiatives which will contribute to the economic wellbeing of the town.

The main aims of Elland Our Place are:

  • Increasing opportunities for young people through developing social activities, volunteering, promoting apprenticeships and encouraging involvement in the community
  • Increasing dialogue and involvement of businesses with regard to revitalisation of the town and identifying opportunities for supporting and strengthening local enterprise
  • Increasing local influence through developing partnerships with statutory, voluntary sector and business partners to look at new and improved ways of delivering services
