Yes – the legendary Harry Gration and the less legendary Paul Hudson (but who always makes the weather more interesting than a chat at a bus stop) will be visiting Elland. They may not know that they are privileged to be part of the momentous 700 celebration.
On the 24th of February 1317, John de Eland was issued a royal charter by King Edward II allowing him to hold a weekly market and two fairs annually, therefore confirming Elland’s status as a market town.
There will be have stalls selling crafts, handmade cushions & aprons, greetings cards & wrapping paper, hot sandwiches & meats and fresh fish. Come and join the fun! @Calderdalemkt
