World Environment Day

It’s World Environment Day today 5 June 2018. What better time to plan your walks, work and fun in Calderdale’s parks and open spaces.

World Environment Day is the UN’s most important day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. Since it began in 1974, it has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries.

Some of the upcoming events are;

The Big Evening Balsam Bash – Wednesday 6 June, 6:00pm-8:00pm

Meet Robin Dalton at the front of Clay House, West Vale at 6:00pm to relieve the week’s frustrations bashing this invasive annual plant. Please wear sensible clothing and sturdy footwear. Contact Robin Dalton Area Countryside Officer for the Lower Valley for more information on 07712 867619.

Cromwell Bottom Practical Day – Saturday 9 June, 9:30am-2:00pm

Join Countryside and Woodlands Service staff and members of the Cromwell Bottom Wildlife Group to help manage this unique and diverse Local Nature Reserve with a variety of practical activities.  Contact Robin Dalton Area Countryside Officer for the Lower Valley for more information on 07712 867619.

Norland Moor Practical Day – Wednesday 20 June, 10:00am-11:30am
