Ogden Water Local Nature Reserve offers a superb opportunity to escape from the stresses and strains of everyday life. Over 300,000 people visit Ogden Water every year for picnics, walking, feeding the ducks, family outings and nature activities. There is a visitor’s centre where you can enjoy a warm drink and rest too.
Despite being closed – due to the COVID-19 situation – Ogden Water have every intention of reopening as soon as possible and would like to carry out some maintenance work on their site.
They are applying for some EU funding which is being administered through the Leeds City Region and need evidence to show that if successful they would encourage people to visit during the autumn and winter period and that the proposed work is wanted.
The proposed works include a new surface for the path around the reservoir which is permeable (no more puddles or ice!), accessible play equipment and resurfacing the main carpark which will include provision of level disabled parking bays.
Normally the survey would have been carried out on site but as this isn’t possible at present, there is an online questionnaire available through the Calderdale Council website:
The survey is live now and is open until 5th June.
Your opinions are much appreciated.
