The West Yorkshire Devolution deal will give our region more powers and funding to address the issues that people really care about, like transport improvements, skills and education, housing and regeneration, and creating good quality jobs that give people a decent standard of living.

The devolution deal with Government has been secured by the five West Yorkshire councils (Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield) which will see an historic transfer of powers and investment from Whitehall to our region. It will give local control of at least £1.8 billion of funding to spend on things that matter to West Yorkshire’s people.

The deal means decisions will be taken in West Yorkshire by people who know and understand the region. It will bring benefits for rural and urban communities. People’s quality of life will be Improved by developing key areas including transport, skills, the economy, housing and regeneration. It also means that West Yorkshire will have a mayor and elections will be held in May 2021.

Have your say now on this deal and the proposals for a directly elected mayor.

Closing date is 19 July 2020. Find out more and access the survey here.
