A note from the editor : Lest We Forget

Remembrance Sunday felt a bit forgotten this year. Since we didn’t really make a lot of mention of events, please take a look at pictures from the laying of wreaths at the Cenotaph outside Halifax Minster.

The day had been appropriately calm, even as it was overcast and misty. It was a day for reflection and offering gratitude to those who had forsaken their futures so that we may have ours.

The Ukrainian flag was also present in this ceremony, a fitting reminder of the ugly reality of war still taking place right now, not so far from us, in a country not that different from ours.

Wars are never the answer and there are never winners in wars.

Let us hope we will learn one day.

Let us hope that Remembrance Sunday will be a day of offering solemn thanks and nothing more.

Interesting footnote: This is the first time after 70 years that the national Anthem sang “God save the King”.

    Thankyou for letting us see the photographs of Remembrance day service.
    It is always a sombering moment in the year and I hope it always will be. We should never forget.
