Community Foundation for Calderdale Launch Flood Appeal
Calderdale Flood Appeal Launched
The Community Foundation for Calderdale has launched an appeal for people to give to a fund to help those affected by the devastating floods on 9th February.
Storm Ciara created significant damage through severe flooding across the Calder Valley, where a month’s rain fell in just 12 hours. Days later Storm Dennis swept over the flood-hit towns still recovering from the disaster. This is the third time in eight years that our resilient community has been devastated by flooding. It is estimated that 500 homes, 400 businesses, eight schools and two care homes have been affected. We are leading the response to support the local community.
The Community Foundation for Calderdale (CFFC) is a registered charity with 30 years experience of fundraising and giving out grants to people in need across the Calder Valley. We have led the response to all of the significant floods in the area. We are awarding emergency grants to householders, charities and businesses affected. More information will be posted on our website and on social media.
The financial support that we will be offering the communities affected will help people to get back on their feet after the devastating impact of the floods. The more funds that we raise through this appeal will enable us to have a greater impact.
