The Council, the Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group and other partners are working to improve children and young people’s emotional wellbeing.
In Calderdale, when we talk about emotional wellbeing, we usually include:
- Emotional wellbeing
- Psychological wellbeing
- Social wellbeing
The aim is to improve the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people by making sure they have support from their parents and carers.
This scheme will give one-off cash grants to organisations working with or for parents, including public sector agencies, schools and voluntary organisations. This money will be used to strengthen or start up any projects that support parents and carers in a way that helps their children’s emotional wellbeing.
Any public sector, schools or voluntary organisation can apply for anything from £5,000 to £20,000 and a Grants Panel made up of people from the Council and from the Emotional Wellbeing Taskforce, which includes representatives from health, schools and other partners will decide who gets a grant.

A public consultation starts today, Tuesday 15 March 2016, on proposed changes to hospital services and further improvements to community services in Calderdale and Greater Huddersfield.
The consultation will run for 14 weeks until midnight on Tuesday 21 June 2016.

Healthy Minds is a small local mental health charity that understand the problems people face on a day to day basis and offer a place where you can get support to manage life’s ups and downs.
Head Space is a 3 week course that will run for 2 hours per week and cover topics such as:
- Dealing with stress, improving confidence and self esteem
- Goals and aims
- Getting what you need and taking control
- And how you might access further support
Head Space will run at Croft House Community room, Elland on wednesday’s 13, 20 and 27 April from 1pm to 3pm.
