Fishing lessons for young people at Brookfoot Lake Fishery

Posted on Updated on

fishRastrick Big Local, Brighouse Angling Association and West Yorkshire Angling Action Group are offering fishing sessions to young people from the Rastrick area.

Small organised groups of up to 6 persons are invited to go along and enjoy coarse fishing instruction at the Brookfoot lake fishery and parents, carers, group leaders are welcome at all times.

The venues, Riley`s and  Airey`s ponds are small, well stocked places with good access and safe bank side pegs from which to learn about coarse fishing and most boys and girls will catch something on their first attempt and more experienced anglers can catch lots!

The Association now has three experienced coaches* who are fully qualified by the national governing body, the Angling trust (anglingtrust.net)

The sessions,  usually 1-2 hours long, will take place on the afternoon during school holidays or early evening in term time from late spring to September.

All participants will be introduced to the knowledge and skills used in fishing; knowledge of the fish we catch and the natural environment in which we enjoy our great sport.

In the long term we would anticipate a lifelong appreciation of the world of fishing and possibly become member of a club.
