Flooding roadshows in Calderdale
These drop-in sessions are your opportunity to find out what the council and other organisations are doing to reduce the impact of flooding in the future, discuss future flood defence plans, share flood resilience information and receive details of grants available for people affected by flooding.
There will also be practical demonstrations on how you can make your home or business more resilient to flooding. More information including dates/venues is available online
Sing out loud sessions at Hamerton Close
Improve your confidence, mood and wellbeing with sing out loud sessions including social time over a cup of tea or coffee at Hamerton Close, Westgate, Elland on the following dates:
- Thursday 18 February – 1.45pm to 3.30pm
- Thursday 3 March – 1.45pm to 3.30pm
- Thursday 17 March – 1.45pm to 3.30pm
- Thursday 31 March – 1.45pm to 3.30pm

What’s on at the Victoria Theatre
Help raise money for Calderdale flood relief whilst seeing a preview screening of the new season of Happy Valley at An Evening with Happy Valley, 5 February. Includes a Q&A with Sally Wainwright and selected cast.
Other highlights include a spectacular new production of the classic opera Madam Butterfly from the Russian State Opera House on 6 February, and laugh-tacular comedy from Stewart Francis – Pun Gent on 13 February.
Get active with Tai Chi in Elland
Get involved and get active with a new Tai Chi class at Elland Golf Club – Relax in the peaceful club house lounge overlooking the course and its vista of trees and well-kept fairways and stay in the clubhouse for some lunch or a coffee after.

Become an Engagement Champion and give local people a say
You could earn money for your community by becoming an Engagement Champion. You could reach out to people in your community that may not otherwise get to have a say. If you enjoy talking to people and getting involved this could be for you.
The NHS wants to talk to people about its plans for local health services. There is FREE training for local people to become Engagement Champions and talk to their communities.

The Engagement Champions programme is run by Voluntary Action Calderdale and funded by Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group, responsible for planning and buying local health services in hospital and in the community.

Courses with the Workers’ Educational Association
Maybe you have been thinking about writing your very first novel but unsure where to start or just in need of inspiration!
Well think no more, as this Autumn from Monday 7 September 2015 there will be a number of courses which you can take part in such as creative writing, art, poetry, History and much more. No matter what your interests are, there’s a good chance you will find a course to suit you.
