Tesco Bags of Help Programme Open to Applications

Tesco offers grants through its Bags of Help Programme which is funded by Tesco customers from the proceeds of the 5p charge for plastic carrier bags as a result of a government carrier bag levy.

The deadline for applications is Friday 3 June 2016

The community grant scheme will support around grants of £8,000, £10,000 and £12,000 are available for capital improvements to local community greenspaces that have free and open access to all members of the community for a minimum of six days a week, during daylight hours.

Bridgefest at Bailiff Bridge Community Centre – 28 May

Enjoy sand art, bands, raffles, stalls, entertainment a bar and more when Bridgefest 2016 comes to town including music from Jess Huxham, Pschoslinkys, Georgia Farrar and more.

Entry costs £5 per adult and under 2’s go FREE (small charge if wanting to play). Children can enjoy all day access into the Children’s Zone where they can play for just £5.

New Engagement Champions Training Dates – May 2016

Engagement Champions Training sessions will take place on the following dates from 4.15pm to 8pm at Voluntary Action Calderdale, Hall Street, Halifax, HX1 5AY

VCS Organisations taking part in the Engagement Champions programme give their service users real involvement in Calderdale CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) engagement and consultation processes.

The training is suitable for; service users, volunteers, staff and committee members and brings useful skills to individuals and organisations as well as giving your organisation influence in local health service development.

fairandfunky eventBookings for the fairandfunky Fairtrade Conference for Schools; ‘Stand Up For Farmers!’ are now open.

Taking place on Friday 13 May from 9.15am to 2.30pm at Halifax Minster, ‘Stand Up For Farmers’ brings together Primary Schools from across Calderdale to celebrate World Fairtrade Day.

This is the first conference in Calderdale to combine Fairtrade and the arts, offering professional development for teachers and innovative learning for students including interactive workshops involving drama, musical composition, real life stories and more.

Cost is £110 per school – this includes 8 pupils and 2 teachers or make the most of the Early Bird Booking Offer for £100 per school when booked before the end of Spring term.
