Sling Swing at Southgate Methodist Church

Sure Start Children’s Centres, North Halifax Partnership will be  hosting a Sling Swing Session at Southgate Methodist Church, Langdale Street, Elland HX5 0JL starting on Monday 21 January, 1:00am-2:00pm.

In the 4 weekly sessions suitable for children 6 weeks and over, mums, dads and babies will have dance and gentle movement with the babies in slings and baby carriers.

Sensory Play at Wellholme Park Children’s Centre

Sure Start Children’s Centres, North Halifax Partnership will be  hosting Sensory Play Sessions at Wellholme Park Children’s Centre, Bradford Road, Brighouse HD6 4AF starting on Wednesday 23 January, 1:30am-2:30pm.

In the 4 weekly sessions suitable for children 0 – 2½, families will learn different ways to help their child learn through play. Each week there will be a different focus from natural/home objects like pots and pans and wooden spoons to music and have messy/creative play.

FREE Dad’s Event at The Edge Play Gym

Field Lane Children’s Centre will be holding a FREE Dad’s event on Saturday 24 November 2018, 9:30am-11:15am at The Edge Play Gym, Church Lane, Brighouse, HD6 1AT.

This event, suitable for children 0-8 years of age will give free access to the gym as well as party games, snacks and other activities.

Whilst the event is free, places are limited so please call Field Lane Children’s Centre on 01484 386621 to book a place.

  • Tuesday 13 November – outside Rastrick High School in the lay-by. 4.30pm – 6pm.
  • Wednesday 28 November –  Springfield Road car park, Elland, HX5 9EN. 10am – 11.30am

Sure Start Children’s Centres Autumn Newsletter

Sure Start Children’s Centres, North Halifax Partnership have published the Autumn Newsletter which includes information about the family learning courses that are taking place September – December 2018, along with the accredited courses on offer. It also includes their What’s On Guides, which shows the weekly groups on offer across the Children’s Centres and services provided by partner agencies. The newsletter can be downloaded here.

This has also been uploaded to the website, along with a booking form. To book onto the courses you can either complete the booking form electronically on the website or contact the Family Learning Team on 01422 266197.

Dad’s Event with Elland Children’s Centre

All dads, male carers and their children (3-10 years) are invited to join Elland Children’s Centre at C I Adventures, The Boiler House, Shaw Lodge Mills, Halifax HX3 9EZ on Saturday 29 September, 12:45pm-3:00pm for a FREE fun activity afternoon.

Activities include low ropes, bouldering, archery and indoor caving.

This session will provides you with all the information you need about becoming a
volunteer with North Halifax Partnership Sure Start Children’s Centres.

Advisory Board Members – Your Local Children’s Centre Needs You!

Sure Start Children’s Centres North Halifax Partnership want to work with parents and our partners to ensure that all children in North & East Halifax and the Lower Valley achieve their full potential. To help us achieve this vision we need to be listening to the views of parents/carers who use  our services.

What’s in it for you?

  • Your opinions and advice will be valued and listened to at the meetings
  • An opportunity for you to help develop local services for local families
  • Knowledge that you have helped make a difference to other families
  • We can offer you free childcare while you attend the meeting if you need it and refreshments
  • £10 voucher for attendance at every meeting

What would be expected of you as an Advisory Board member

  • You will receive support and a handbook to help you fulfil your role as a parent representative
  • You will be able to give your views and be listened to
  • You will be involved in helping Children’s Centres to plan and develop services
  • Attendance at a meeting twice yearly
