Calderdale Local Plan Consultation

Posted on

The Council is currently working to produce a Local Plan for Calderdale. This will set out a framework for how the District will grow over the next 15 years to meet the need for new homes and jobs. It will also identify sites for proposed development, and areas that will be protected.

The consultation starts at 12 noon on Friday 6 November and runs for 6 weeks until 5pm Friday 18 December. Residents and other stakeholders will have the opportunity to comment on potential sites, and other aspects of the Local Plan, and the Preliminary Draft Charging Schedule for CIL.

We are very keen to encourage residents and others involved in the community to view the information on the Council’s website and make their comments on line, using the following links to the Local Plan page on the Council’s website.

The following drop-in events will be held around Calderdale and each will provide information covering the whole of the District. There is no need to register for these events, and people can come along to the venue that is the most convenient for them.

Are you prepared? Get Flood Aware!

Posted on

Flood MapFlooding in Calderdale is becoming increasingly common and although it is rarely on a scale that creates national headlines, we have seen a number of damaging floods in the last 30 years, including those during the summer of 2012.

While flooding from main rivers can be predicted, one-off floods can occur unexpectedly and have a significant impact.  These floods typically arise from surface water, canals, smaller watercourses, blocked culverts and road drainage and affect almost anywhere.

If you would like up to date information about flooding, weather and traffic disruptions across the Borough with lots of useful information on how to prepare, and check your risk of floods visit www.eyeoncalderdale.com

Shaping the future of Cromwell Bottom

Posted on

Local people have been having their say about future plans for the Cromwell Bottom Local Nature Reserve and neighbouring site at North Loop, near Brighouse.

A public consultation ran from June to September, with a number of drop-in sessions held around Brighouse and Elland. Over 1800 survey questionnaires were returned and the results have now been collated… read more…

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Skills and the Environment, Cllr Jenny Lynn, said:

It’s great that so many people responded to the survey on Cromwell Bottom. It’s clearly a well loved site, and it’s really helpful that we have a good picture of what currently works and what could be improved, so we can prepare a plan for the site which meets the requirements of visitors and local people.
