Greetland Goldstars Girls Team – Training now!

Greetland Goldstars have set up girls football training sessions for under 9’s and under 10’s girls.

Every Thursday – 5.30pm to 6.30pm
At Greetland Community Centre, Rochdale Rd, Greetland, HX4 8JG – Directions

Both teams will enter the West Riding Girls league in 15/16 and are looking for players to join them.

The club are also looking for team kit sponsors for 2 kits, so if you are interested in joining the team or would like to sponsor the kit, please contact John King at John.king@kcom.com or call 07982 801988.

All Saints’ Church – Heritage Open Day

All Saints’ Church will be open to show off its hidden architectural treasures to local Heritage Open Day Logoresidents and visitors free of charge with light refreshments available.

Sunday 13 September 2015 – 12pm to 4pm
Savile Road, Elland, West Yorkshire, HX5 0JF

The Church is a Grade 2 listed building designed by George H Fellows-Prynne around 1900. It is early English in detail, but Edwardian in its massive scale and described as one of the finest churches built in the 20th century.

Get involved in the restoration of St Matthew’s Churchyard located opposite the Sun Inn, Lightcliffe.

On Sunday 16 August 2015 – 2pm to 4pm

Join a small group dedicated to restoring the old churchyard surrounding the tower on the third Sunday of every month – no tools or special skills required, just go along in your old clothes and get involved.

Phoenix Shed launch and inaugural meeting

what is men in shedsWednesday 5 August saw the launch of the Halifax Men in Sheds project – the Phoenix Shed.

30 people attended the inaugural meeting of the group held in the tech-block of the old Ridings School, now Threeways Centre.

Here is where the local men are planning to get together to pursue hobbies and interests.

“A shed provides a community space for men to socialise together whilst working shoulder to shoulder. This is how many men communicate”    Eddie Moss, a founder member of the group

A member based organisation there are now seven men on a steering committee who will be responsible for shaping development of the project over the coming months.

Rob Clegg, member of the committee said,

“Although our shed is mainly for men of retirement age or older, or in ill heath, it is not limited to these groups; younger men and women will also be welcome”
