Wednesday Bereavement Support and Social group at the Canon Winter Centre, Elland
The Wednesday Bereavement Support and Social group at the Canon Winter Centre, All Saint’s Church, Elland HX5 0JF usually meets on the 1st Wednesday of the month 2:00pm to 4:00pm.
This is a social group to help bereaved people and their family and friends to meet new people for friendship, support, day trips and meals out.

Chit Chat Group at Canon Winter Centre, Elland
The Chit Chat group at the Canon Winter Centre, at All Saint’s Church, Elland HX5 0JF was started in March 2012, with 2 members at the first afternoon meeting. A dedicated and enthusiastic team of volunteers greatly outnumbered members on this occasion.
Numbers at meetings grew and because of the popularity of the group a morning session was introduced in January 2014.
The group meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month 10:00am to 12:00pm then 1:30pm to 3:30pm.
Meetings always start with Tea, Coffee, cakes and biscuits, along with a chat, both with new found friends, and friendships renewed.
Activities at meetings range from board games to Beethoven. Other sessions include Quiz’s, Crafts, Entertainers (including a Christmas Panto), and speakers on a variety of topics. Local schools have been in to entertain and interact with our members, bridging the generations.
A small charge is made on the day to cover running costs, and once a month a raffle is held with proceeds going to group funds.
What is provided
The aim is to provide:
– Meaningful Activities – Improved Wellbeing
– A connection to the community – Help to maximise the day
– A more fulfilling and enjoyable life
In all cases the aim is to encourage a healthier lifestyle for older people.
Community Transport
Should members require transport to attend meetings, this can be arranged through the Community Transport Calderdale car service. A small charge is made for this service.

Go along to an Art Exhibition and Sale with organ music and craft stalls this weekend at All Saints’ Church, Savile Road, Elland, HX5 0NH on the following dates.

All Saints’ Church – Heritage Open Day
All Saints’ Church will be open to show off its hidden architectural treasures to local 
residents and visitors free of charge with light refreshments available.

The Church is a Grade 2 listed building designed by George H Fellows-Prynne around 1900. It is early English in detail, but Edwardian in its massive scale and described as one of the finest churches built in the 20th century.
