Bonfire
Bonfire Safety Guidelines from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service
We want everyone to be able to safely enjoy Halloween, Diwali and Bonfire Night across West Yorkshire this year, that’s why we have re-launched our #BanginBonfire campaign.
Our #BanginBonfire campaign helps to make sure everyone has the information they need to enjoy Bonfire Night safely.
We are working with our community safety partners, including local schools and the West Yorkshire Police, to urge communities across the region to do their bit this autumn.
Let’s all have a bangin’ bonfire night!

Message for Bonfire Night 2021 from West Yorkshire Fire Services
With a smaller number of events taking place in West Yorkshire over the Bonfire weekend please attend organised events where possible, or follow the important Bonfire and Firework safety advice if hosting an event at home.
While most of us are excited about the fireworks spectacular that comes with Bonfire Night and some may be preparing for it, the risk potential should not be overlooked.
The West Yorkshire Fire and rescue service would like to remind everyone that carelessness with fireworks can result in severe injury or death.
- Be careful when using fireworks. Only buy fireworks from reputable sellers and check the certificate is appropriate for use.
- If hosting your own bonfire event, be considerate to your neighbours.
- If you plan on having an open fire on your property, it is worth informing the West Yorkshire fire service, so they are aware.
- Hoax calls to the emergency services can result in a £1000 fine.
Let’s not remember Bonfire Night for the wrong reasons.
