Join LAB Wellbeing Online Course starting March 5th

Posted on Updated on

Calderdale Adult Learning and the national award – winning Proper Job Theatre Company have joined forces again to offer another LAB Wellbeing course in March. A free short online course to inspire you to try using models to boost mental well being, to identify and confidently communicate your needs. The course runs from 5th to 19th of March.

In Calderdale we are presently all facing challenges and difficult situations. Having tools to cope well, deal with situations and minimise negative effects of challenges can help us to feel more in control. The tutors teach this fun upbeat course using scenarios, case studies, games, insights from CBT and Psychodrama.  Using the Five Ways to Wellbeing model, the sessions aim to encourage participants to take a look at where they are now and start planning a positive future.

As we begin to move on from the unsettling last months, identify things that you can control and go forward with some effective tools for setting motivating goals and dealing with effects of stress.

LAB Wellbeing Online is part of the LAB Project. Participants are offered on follow – on sessions. These cover personal confidence, Communication, Employment skills and offer a free nationally recognised qualification.

Some participants are eligible for a £50 shopping voucher: try something new and give your feedback.

50% off 2021 Spring Calderdale Adult Learning Courses

Posted on Updated on

As we know, many people have sadly lost their jobs during the pandemic, or understandably may be struggling to stay motivated. Learning something new is a great way to build skills and confidence, find something to focus on and have fun.

Looking after our mental health and emotional wellbeing is more important now than ever. Learning is one of the ‘five ways to wellbeing’ and can help us to boost our self-esteem, build a sense of purpose and connect with others.

Calderdale Adult Learning has launched its spring 2021 course programme, which will focus on digital skills, emotional health and wellbeing and employment skills to help people who are looking for a new job or want to retrain.

Learners can gain important qualifications in subjects like English, maths and employability, and develop new skills in areas such as digital, cookery, arts and beauty. There are daytime and evening classes, and a variety of courses for adults with learning disabilities.

We’re currently offering a 50% discount for everyone who enrolls on one of our spring courses. English and maths courses are free for everybody and many of our courses are offered free to those in receipt of JSA/ESA or on a low income.

Face-to-face adult learning at Heath Campus in Halifax and in community venues is currently on hold to protect learners and staff from COVID-19. However, courses and group learning activities are being delivered online in their usual vibrant and inspiring way, and staff are continuing to provide support throughout the learning journey.

The Council is working hard to ensure buildings are COVID-secure when they can safely reopen.

You can visit our website to view the range of courses on offer and enroll for spring 2021.

I wish you all the best on behalf of the CAL team and we look forward to welcoming new and returning learners in the new year.
