We all know what it’s like to feel lonely from time to time, but facts show that around 1 million older people regularly go an entire month without speaking to anyone and their only form of company being the TV.
By visiting someone who feels lonely and out of touch every week can be so beneficial for their well-being and also extremely rewarding for you, the volunteer.
Community Connections follow a safe recruitment process which involves references and DBS check (free), all supported by a Yorkshire Children’s Centre Volunteer Coordinator .
They complete home safety checks and initial assessments with clients and introduce and match you with who you are happy to spend time with.
If you have ever thought of becoming a befriender to an older person for company and conversation just 1 hour a week, someone local to you, then please come along or get in touch with Jacqui Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01484 519988.
