Appalling incidents of fly tipping in Calderdale

Posted on

Our Community Wardens have come across masses of garbage across Calderdale. Waste dumped on the roadside, hurled over walls into natural spaces, home appliances left on the road. This is Not Acceptable, it is unhygienic and furthermore it can be dangerous.

We feel very strongly about the issue of fly tipping. It is a criminal offence that carries penalties. We would however rather get the community on board with reporting such issues and advising individuals of how to dispose of their garbage responsibly.

What you can do:

If you see any fly tipping in the first instance report it to CMBC Community First. Please keep your eyes open, if you see anything please take a photo of it and then send details to Calderdale Council via Community First.

Community Wardens Clean Up in Rastrick

Posted on

Saturday 23 March Community wardens Lee Ackroyd, Mary Price & Ray Jackson from North  East & Lower valley wards did some joint action clean up on Field Top Road, Rastrick due to local residents raising concerns about the volume of litter in the area.

The wardens litter picked the hotspot areas for litter with large amounts  removed.

Residents  came to speak with the Wardens to show their appreciation in cleaning up the area with one resident wanting information on how to join a community clean up in the future.

More clean up projects will be organised in the near future.
