Join us for some relaxing movement activities with Sam whilst Matt accompanies on the guitar! For adults of all ages (and children where this enables adults to attend), followed by time for a brew and a butty!

Now open to all adults!
We’re very excited to bring this class back and it’s now open to all adults! Enjoy a variety of fun sequences and time to stretch and relax. There’s a brew afterwards too (of course!).

Why not join us for a fun session of movement and crafts?
Lower Valley Sure Start Children’s Centres and Curious Motion bring Curious Minds, a free session for babies and children up to 5 years of age.

Delightful Dance fun at the Orange Box February 25th
Time Out Calderdale and Curious Motion come to the Orange Box in Halifax to introduce you to dance through fun sequences and activities with time to create your own ideas and find out how you like to move.
This workshop is aimed at young people and it is designed to be accessible to all capabilities.

Rhythm & Brews returns 28th Jan
We’re delighted to be running more of these sessions! A mixture of live music, dance, and relaxation – the perfect pick-me-up for your body and mind!
Aimed at adults of all ages but children are very welcome to join us too.

Places are now available on a ‘Pay as You Feel’ basis to help us cover costs – you can choose various amounts to donate if you’d like to and free places are always available (no questions asked).
Monthly arts workshops start 29th Jan
Creative activities for all the family – join us to draw, make, write, and explore your creativity in these relaxed sessions.
Workshops will be held on Saturday afternoons, once a month, from January to June 2022 as part of our Elland’s Happiness Lab project. There’ll be a different creative activity on offer each time.
We’re kicking off with LANTERN MAKING with HANDMADE PARADE:
Make a lantern inspired by our ‘happiness’ theme and to be displayed in local shop windows for Handmade Parade’s Windows on the World project!
Suitable for all ages (children accompanied by an adult please).

Free dance & movement workshop with Curious Motion October 27
Wednesday 27 October | 10am – 12pm
Orangebox Youth Centre, 1 Blackledge, Halifax HX1 1AF
We have a fun and accessible dance and movement workshop for young people coming up in half term! An introduction to dance through fun sequences and activities, followed by time to create your own ideas and find out how you like to move!
The first half of the session will involve exploring some phrases and sequences inspired by contemporary dance, focusing on feeling energised and building confidence. Then, participants will explore a range of fun creative tasks to create their own ideas, finishing with combining their ideas together for a celebration of their achievements through a short group choreography.

Rhythm and Brews starts tomorrow!
One day to go…
Rhythm & Brews starts tomorrow!
We’re kicking off Rhythm & Brews with an uplifting and joyous African music and movement class!
Taught by the brilliant Sandile Duma (more about him below), this free session will be a combination of Zulu dance movements, which includes kicking of the legs, stomping and shaking, Zulu song chants and Drumming circle with djembe drums, and a meet and greet in Zulu Language.
Plus, enjoy some time to chat and relax over a brew afterwards.

Meet the musician – Sandile Duma
Hailing from KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and now based in England, Sandile is a befittingly respected vocalist, dancer and drummer who specialises in traditional African music and choreography.
He’s performed for both the royal family and Nelson Mandela, so we’re honoured to have him join us at Curious Motion!

Looking for some joy and relaxation?
Join our new class!
Introducing… Rhythm & Brews
Join us for this fun and informal session to explore a range of music and movement styles – from the uplifting rhythms of traditional African Zulu music and dance to the relaxing notes of the piano as we stretch.
The perfect ‘pick-me-up’ for your body and mind!
Each session involves 45 minutes of movement and live music (bliss!), followed by time to chat over a brew. Open to adults of all ages and no experience necessary. And… it’s FREE!

A variety of music and movement styles are on offer, including:
Traditional African music and dance – release the tensions of the week in this uplifting and inspirational session exploring traditional drumming and movement from South Africa!
Relax, stretch & breathe – a calm and gentle series of stretches and movements accompanied by live piano. You’ll float out of the room after this one!
