FREE Batwatch Event for all the family

Batwatch Event LogoJoin Calderdale Countryside Officer, Chris Sutcliffe, on a search for bats in the lovely, old St. Matthew’s churchyard to find out more about the life of bats and listen for them using bat detectors.

Tuesday 24 May – 9pm
Meet at the tower opposite the Sun Inn, Lightcliffe

This event is FREE and all ages welcome but children must be accompanied by an adult and warm clothing is advised.

Easter Bunny Fun at Shibden Hall – Ages 3 to 6

The Shibden Bunny is in search of eggs hidden in Cunnery Wood and grounds. Go along and make a felt Easter egg (this activity includes a woodland walk which is unsuitable for prams and buggies).

Thursday 31 March and Thursday 7 April – 11am to 12, 1pm to 2pm and 2pm to 3pm

Sparks! Easter Holiday Fun at Bankfield Museum

Get creative this Easter Holiday and make a robot, alien egg and more an Bankfield Museum from 1pm to 2pm and 2pm to 3pm on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 29 March – Create your own alien egg.
  • Wednesday 30 March – Make a robot.
  • Tuesday 5 April – Create your own time travel accessory.
  • Wednesday 6 April – Make a time travel themed porthole.

Tickets cost £3.50 per child or £2.50 for Passport to Leisure holders and must be booked online here

For ages 4 to 12 – Children must be accompanied by a parent or carer

Story time at Elland & Brighouse Libraries – Skellig

What is that strange human-like creature living in the garage? Come and listen to an excerpt of this fantastic book by David Almond and find out more. You will also make Skellig’s favourite food.

  • Wednesday 30 March – 10.30am to 11.30am at Elland Library
  • Tuesday 5 April – 2pm to 3pm at Brighouse Library

Suitable for ages 5 to 8 All children must be accompanied by a parent/carer.

Tickets cost £3 per child or £2 for Passport to Leisure card holders and must be purchased in advance online here.
