Incredible Edible Brighouse Celebration Evening

Posted on Updated on

Get involved with the Incredible Edible Brighouse, Community Consultation, AGM & Volunteer Celebration Evening

On Tuesday 16 May 2017 – 7.30pm
At The Link, Central Methodist Church, Commercial St, Brighouse, HD6 1AQ

Incredible Edible Brighouse is a grow your own scheme run by members of the community for the community and was set up in 2013.  We aim to help plant fruit and vegetables in unloved and neglected areas in and around Brighouse, helping to retain and revitalize these green spaces. Just starting our fifth year we have worked in partnership with the Safer, Cleaner, Greener section of Calderdale Council and have “incredibled” many of the raised beds in Brighouse town centre. This year we have continued with existing projects and have some exciting new ones to introduce.

We have worked with various community groups including cubs and scouts and have received support from Grow Wild, Together Housing, Arco, Tesco & Morrisons, Calder Valley Skip Hire and Kershaw’s Garden Centre.

Could you spare an hour or two each fortnight to help us plant new plants and maintain the beds or perhaps help man the stall at one of or fundraising events or even make things for us to sell, there are lots of opportunities for volunteers with a whole variety of skills.  Are you a business that could make a donation? – we need wood to make planters, prizes for tombola’s and fundraising events.

Would you like to find out more?  Come along to our annual Community Consultation,  AGM and Volunteer Celebration Evening at 7.30pm on Tuesday 16th May 2017 in The Link, Central Methodist Church, Brighouse .

If you would like to come along to one of our planting sessions we meet outside Wilko, Brighouse as below:

  • Sunday 21 May – 11am
  • Tuesday 23 May – 10.30am
  • Monday 30 May – 6.30pm
