Pension Credit top up to help with living Costs

Posted on Updated on

Do you or a family member get a State Pension? An estimated £6.8 million of unclaimed Pension Credit is unclaimed in Calderdale*. We want to encourage every one of State Pension age to check their eligibility, even if they don’t think they need any additional support.

Even if you own your own home or have some savings, it’s worth checking to see if you’re entitled to Pension Credit – you might be surprised! If you get Pension Credit you could get help with heating bills, housing costs and free NHS dental care and if you get Pension credit and you are over 75, you could get a free TV licence.

Check online: gov.uk/pension-credit or if you need help call 01422 288005

*Estimate based on latest published figures obtained from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).  One in three people eligible for Pension Credit currently do not claim it.

Have your say on how the Council spends its budget

budget consultation logoCalderdale Council is currently looking at the best ways in which to allocate the budget for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 financial year and would like you to get involved to help make these decisions by finding out what the council does, balancing their budget and expressing your views.

The results of this consultation will be published prior to the budget being decided in November… Click here for further information on the Council’s budget and how and where the money is spent.

Get involved

Have your say by taking a short survey and playing the councils budget simulator to register your priorities for spending whilst trying to maintain a balanced budget.

The results of this consultation will be published prior to the budget being decided in November and taken into consideration when the budget is officially assigned next year by Calderdale’s councillors.

This simulator helps to illustrate how Calderdale’s budget is currently allocated, and how changing the budget could affect the lives of people in Calderdale.

Calderdale Council would like you to use it to tell them how you would allocate Calderdale’s money, and which services are most important to you.

Alternatively the consultation is available in paper format here and once complete it can be returned by email to YourCouncilYourVoice@calderdale.gov.uk or by post to Westgate House, Halifax, HX1 1PS

To find out more or to see how you can get involved email yourbudget@calderdale.gov.uk
