Greener Together will deliver further Sustainability Workshops and Walks for Women from the WomenCentre in Halifax starting January.
Sustainability Workshops

The team will be delivering short walks, taster sessions and short courses aimed at advising women who may be on limited incomes, how to approach living more sustainably. They will be introducing sustainability and making it more relevant on a day-to-day basis, looking at reducing costs, sustainable shopping and saving energy in the home amongst other approaches. Environmentally friendly goodies will be given out at each session!
The Sustainability courses are running January-February and February-March 2023.

Walks for Women

Short, weekly lead Walks for Women starting Thursday 12th of January 2023 from the WomenCentre.
These are short walks with the emphasis being very much on meeting new people, re-connecting with the environment, reducing social isolation, improving health, exploring the green spaces of Halifax and introducing women to the range of activities at The Outback Community garden and the services of the Women’s Centre. We will be walking at a relaxed pace; tailored to individuals.
Free short 1,5hrs walks for women this winter
Continuing through to March 2023, there will be short walks with the emphasis being very much on meeting new people, re-connecting with the environment, improving health, exploring the green spaces of Halifax and introducing women to the range of activities at The Outback Community garden.
The walks will be at a relaxed pace, tailored to individuals.

CREW Heart Support guided walks for wellbeing

CREW Heart support are back with their guided walking groups of about 5 miles (over 2 hours) to help improve your physical health and mental wellbeing.
CREW Heart Support guided walks January – March 2023
The walks take place around Calderdale and are graded according to difficulty and accessibility.
All walks are guided. Please wear weather appropriate clothing and shoes.
Join and give yourself the opportunity for gentle exercise, socialising and enjoying the outdoors in a safe, friendly environment.
When attending the walks you will be asked to fill out a membership form and a disclaimer. You can request a paper copy or download the PDF from their website and bring it with you already filled out.
New opportunities to move and connect in Elland with Curious Motion
January can be a challenging time of year for our mental health and overall wellbeing. Curious Motion classes and workshops are back this week, including two new sessions – all designed to help you feel more connected to yourself, others, and your local community, release stress and worries, and utilise movement to refresh and restore your body and mind.
Our first Sounding Board gathering is also happening on Saturday – a unique opportunity to be part of reducing loneliness in Calderdale (and there’ll be free cake!). I’d love to see you there.More details and booking info in the latest Curious Motion Newsletter

NEW after-school sessions for children
After-school movement and storytelling workshops for children of all ages in partnership with Elland Library. Parents and carers can enjoy free refreshments too.

NEW monthly workshops for all adults
Join us for some relaxing and uplifting movement activities with Matt. Suitable for all adults, this session involves an hour of movement (seated and/ or standing), followed by a brew and refreshments.

Be part of reducing loneliness in Calderdale
Are you interested in supporting more connection and a deeper sense of belonging across Elland, Rastrick and the lower valley? Join us for this informal gathering where we’ll enjoy time to explore what this means for you and your local community. There’ll be free cake and brews too!

Dance for Wellbeing
Evening sessions for all adults
An accessible movement and stretch class for adults of all ages. Explore a range of sequences and activities to a variety of music, cultivating a shared sense of fun, relaxation and achievement. We finish each session with time to stretch out and relax, then enjoy a brew together.

Seated Exercise at Hipperholme Christ Church every Tuesday
Active Rainbow come to Hipperholme Christ Church every Tuesday morning to offer seated exercise sessions!
This is a very friendly class and we always finish off the session with a chat and cuppa. Everyone welcome

Step into fitness with this 6 week Summer Walking Challenge

Newground Together invite you to join their Summer Walking Challenge starting 18 July 2022.
The activities are open to anyone in Calderdale over 18 years and out of work. We would like to involve as many people as possible in the opportunities.
Whether you walk a little or a lot every step counts. All abilities welcome.
Join our team of walkers for support and encouragement every week this summer.
First walk is on 22nd July at 11am. Meet at Bull House Green House, Halifax HX1 2EB
- Booking required for the Friday walks, so we can ensure enough picnic food for all.
- You don’t have to attend every week, just let us know when you are free.
- Free for people out of work, aged over 18 and living in Calderdale.
- Support will be provided from our Employment and Skills team.
- We can reimburse bus fares for those wanting to attend the Friday walks.
- If people need help to access the challenge due to lack of suitable footwear or clothing – we can help.
- Follow our progress updates on Facebook and Instagram.
- Plus one lucky walker will win a £25 ‘Love to Shop’ voucher!
