Posted on

Brighouse Open Market will once again play host to friendly ghosts, waiting for you to find them!

Follow the Ghost Hunt Trail at Brighouse Open Market this Saturday 29th of October, starting at 9.30am until 1.30pm!

Walk around the stalls, find the tricky ghosts and get some treats for it!

Everyone is welcome. This event is a great way for little ones to have the experience of trick or treating whose parents don’t wish to take them out trick or treating on Halloween. Just find the hidden ghost on each market stall and receive some sweets! If your little ones would like to dress up that would be amazing , but they don’t have to!

The RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield and Bradford branch invites supporters to join them for their second annual Zombie Walkies this Halloween!

Zombie Walkies is an interactive trick or treat walk around Huddersfield Town Centre, with spooky stops and live acts along the way. Families, friends, and dogs are all welcome to take part in the walk on Sunday 30th October, which finishes at the Lawrence Batley Theatre with a fangtastic party.

Click to sign up to Zombie Walkies 2022!

The event, kindly sponsored by Huddersfield BID, starts at 2pm setting off from Market Avenue Shopping Arcade (just off New Street) and takes in various stops around the Town Centre. The walk is free to take part in, but participants are encouraged to raise sponsorship for the local RSPCA Animal Centre.

All Zombie Walkies walkers will receive a free goody bag and free human and dog treats along the route.

But the fun doesn’t stop there, the Lawrence Batley Theatre has kindly offered their courtyard as a party space for all those looking for some Halloween fun! Whether you take part in the Zombie Walkies or not, the party is open to all from 2pm and includes games, music, stalls, and karaoke!

All funds raised go towards the important animal rehabilitation, care and rehoming work of the local, independently funded RSPCA Centre.

Lauren Moore, Fundraising Manager said: “Zombie Walkies is a really fun way to celebrate Halloween and we’re excited to see the spooktastic walkers take part in this year’s event. We’d like to thank all the local businesses who are offering their premises as a ghoulicious pit stop and we hope the community will support them as they are supporting us by having for a bite to eat or drink before the event starts.

We’ve added an extra twist this year with a party at the Lawrence Batley Theatre where we’ll also be giving out prizes for the best dressed on the day, so let’s see how creative our community can be!’’

The RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford and District Branch are a self-funded branch of the National RSPCA, responsible for raising money locally to support our animal welfare work. Last year the branch rehomed over 400 animals. Our main aim is to rehabilitate unwanted, abandoned and abused animals and find them loving, permanent homes.

Message from Sure Start Children’s Centres on Halloween Safety

Posted on

As we are excited and getting ready for Halloween, Sure Start Children’s Centres would like to remind everyone from the young to the young at heart to be mindful and remain safe during this spooktacular time.

Do:

  • Only trick or treat in your own neighbourhood unless you are with an adult
  • Stay in well lit areas where there are plenty of houses
  • Make sure an adult knows the area you plan to visit and what time you’ll be back
  • Look out for ‘no callers please’ posters and respect your neighbours
  • Keep to pavements and trick or treat on one side of the street before crossing safely to the other side – don’t criss-cross
  • Wait to eat any treats until you get home so that an adult can check them

Don’t:

  • Don’t cut through back alleys, ginnels or fields, and don’t trick or treat too far from home
  • Don’t go alone – take an adult with you or stay in a group

Starting from 11am at St Peter’s Gardens, Byram Street in Huddersfield Town Centre with spooktacular stalls and games; this dog and family friendly walk around the Town Centre calls in at different eateries and trick or treat pit stops along the way to celebrate Halloween and promote some great businesses too.

The event is free to attend but participants are encouraged to dress up, make a donation or raise sponsorship on their walk for the local RSPCA.

You can sign up to the Zombie Walkies on the day of the event from 11am or sign up now to secure your Zombie Walkies goody bag.

Lauren Moore, Fundraising Manager said:

‘’We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone to our first Zombie Walkies and can’t wait to see the costumes people turn up in! As a local, self funded branch of the RSPCA, we rely heavily on our community’s support to help us care for all the animals in our Centre and we really hope people will take part in this event with or without their four-legged friends. You can even just pop down to say hello – or should that be Howloooooo!’’

With the added extra of rosettes and prizes awarded to the best-dressed individuals, group or pair (adult, child or dog) this promises to be a ghoulishy good Howloween!!
