Posted on Updated on

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 28 September is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. People all over the UK are asked to host their own Coffee Mornings and donations on the day are made to Macmillan. Last year alone over £27 million was raised.

The first ever Coffee Morning happened way back in 1990. It was a rather small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan in the process. It was so effective, it was repeated again the following year – only this time nationally. Since then, Coffee Morning has raised over £200 million for Macmillan.

Hosting your own Coffee Morning is easy. All you have to do is sign up and Macmillan will get your kit to you.

You can find a coffee morning near you at https://coffee.macmillan.org.uk/about/search/

So far we see coffee mornings at;

The Maltings College, TTSA Training Room, Maltings Road, Halifax HX2 0TJ from 10:00am to 1200pm

Calderdale College, Francis Street, Halifax HX1 3UZ from 9:00am to 12:00pm

and obviously at the sponsors: Marks and Spencer, Woolshops, Halifax from 10:00am.

Survey on Cancer Recovery Package

Posted on Updated on

Are you a cancer patient who has received treatment in West Yorkshire and Harrogate?

West Yorkshire and Harrogate Cancer Alliance is keen to find out patients’ experience of being offered any of the different parts of the ‘Recovery Package’, which means that the support you get is built around you and your own needs. New national cancer guidance says that all people diagnosed with cancer should have access to the ‘Recovery Package’ by 2020.

They want to know which parts you were offered, what was useful and beneficial and your views on how we could improve.

Please follow the link to the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Cancer Alliance website where you can complete the survey and submit it online. The survey will be available from July 10 to September 14 2018. https://canceralliance.wyhpartnership.co.uk/news-and-events/latest-news/complete-our-patient-survey-living-and-beyond-cancer
