Family SwimmingJust a reminder to book a place for the FREE Family Swim at Brighouse Swimming Pool.

NHP Sure Start Children’s Centres in the Lower Valley welcome you to a New Year’s Family Fun and Fitness afternoon – for FREE!

At Brighouse Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre on Sunday 4 February 2018, 2pm – 5pm.

This offer is open to Sure Start registered families.

The fun includes:

  • Buggy walk at 2pm
  • Family swim in the main pool, 3pm – 4pm
  • Aqua babies session in Teaching pool, 4pm – 4.30pm
  • Aqua Tots session in teaching pool, 4.30pm – 5pm
  • Family Zumba! with Calderdale’s Better Living Team at 2pm and 2.30pm.
  • Baby massage, 3pm
  • Bongo Babies, 3.30pm
  • Mini Me activity time, 4pm
  • Crafts, refreshments and access to information about Children’s Centre services throughout the afternoon.


Completed forms can be returned to the reception team at Wellhome Park Children’s Centre, Bradford Road, Brighouse, HD6 4AF. Or you can ring through your preferences on 01484 714768.

Return your form quickly as we expect these sessions to be popular and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

** Important information** Activities are not suitable for children over 11 years old. Please note that all children must be supervised by an adult. In the pool sessions, a supervising adult must be in the water with children, and there must be 1 adult for every 2 children that you bring.

The Sure Start newsletter for Spring 2018 includes details of the new baby clinics, a what’s on guide for all our Children’s Centres and how to follow each individual Centre on it’s own Facebook page.

Once Upon a Christmas Time with Mrs Molly at Field Lane Children’s Centre

On Thursday 7 December 2017 at 10:15am until 11:45am, Field Lane Children’s Centre, Rastrick HD6 3JT will be holding a FREE Christmas activity for all the family led by Mrs Molly, including Christmas stories, activities and crafts, rhymes, poems and Christmas songs. Suitable for children aged 18 months upwards but the whole family is welcome.

A full day, adult only (no creche available) Emergency Paediatric First Aid course. Patricipants will learn the techniques and procedures with a multiple choice exam at the end of the day.

Wildlife Discovery Adventure around Field Lane Children’s Centre

Wildlife DiscoveryStarting Tuesday 12 September between 1:15pm – 2:45pm there will be 3 weeks of discovering all things wild on our nature toddle around Field Lane Children’s Centre area.

Week 1 will be exploring the area and what lives there.

Week 2 will be mini beast hunting

Week 3, the final week, having a go at seasonal wild art and a treasure hunt.

Best suited to children aged 2+ but children of all ages are invited to come along and explore. Welly boots are a must if it rains.

Time for Change is being held on Monday 24 April 2017

At 1pm – 3pm at Southgate Methodist Church in Elland town centre.

Come along and see if there is anything that inspires you!

The opportunities are endless… Have a go at manicure, sign up and complete your first aid certificate, find out about volunteering locally, set up your own business…

There will be refreshments and entertainment for the under 5’s and even a free goodie bag.
