‘Over the Rainbow’ at St. Matthew’s, Lightcliffe

On Saturday 20 October 2018, 7:30pm at St. Matthew’s, Lightcliffe will once again play host to a feast of outstanding music when Royal Northern College of Music graduates, Aidan Edwards and Juliet Montgomery , return to sing ‘Over The Rainbow’, an evening of well-known songs from films.

They will be supported by The Northowram Singers, and accompanied by a talented musical ensemble, led by musical director Rob Paxman.

Producer and narrator, John Brooke, said “We are so lucky to be able to welcome Aidan and Juliet back to Lightcliffe for our sixth annual fundraising concert, and feel honoured to have the support of such outstanding, professional singers. Every year seems to get better, and ‘Over The Rainbow’ promises once again to be the highlight of the Hipperholme and Lightcliffe calendar”.

Tickets cost £8.00 and are available from the ticket office at St. Matthew’s from 10.00am-12.00 noon on the following Fridays: 28 September, and 5, 12 and 19 October, or from Colin’s News, Hipperholme and the Lightcliffe Tea Rooms, or by emailing lightcliffechurchyard@gmail.com.

‘Spread a Little Happiness’ at St. Matthew’s Church, Lightcliffe

On Saturday 21 October 2017 at 7:30pm St. Matthew’s, Lightcliffe will once again play host to a feast of outstanding music when Royal Northern College of Music graduates, Juliet Montgomery and Aidan Edwards, return to sing favourites from a range of English musicals.

They will be supported by The Northowram Singers, and accompanied by a superb musical ensemble, led by musical director Rob Paxman.

Producer and narrator, John Brooke, said “This will be the fifth year running that Juliet and Aidan will have performed in our autumn concert at St. Matthew’s, Lightcliffe and ‘Spread a Little Happiness’ promises again to be the highlight of the Hipperholme and Lightcliffe calendar. It was a sell-out last year, so concert-goers are advised to buy their tickets in advance.”

Can you help restore St Matthew’s Churchyard?

Friends of St Matthews

The Friends of St Matthew’s Churchyard are holding a working party for St Matthew’s Churchyard restoration project on Sunday 23 April, 2pm to 4pm.

Jobs will include clearing around graves, cutting grass and generally tidying up!… Any help will be much appreciated.

The group will provide equipment but gloves are advisable.

St Matthew’s Church, Wakefield Road,  Lightcliffe, Halifax, HX3 8TH (opposite the Sun Inn)

Heritage walk: Upper Rastrick

Meet Margaret Sharp for this revised walk looking at a history of Rastrick for over 1000 years, but particularly the last 250 years when Rastrick industrialised and expanded dramatically.

Sunday 18 October 2015 – From 2.15pm
At St. Matthew’s Church, Church Street, Rastrick, HD6 3NF

Admission costs £3

This walk is two and a half hours of fairly easy walking and is suitable for accompanied children over the age of thirteen. No need to book, just turn up and pay on the day. Sensible footwear please.
