We are excited that the government announced the expansion of its tried and tested Holiday Activities and Food programme across all local authorities.
This programme is aiming to provide healthy food and enriching activities during the summer holidays to children who are aged between 5 to 16 years old and receive benefits-related free school meals (8000 children in Calderdale).
The Healthy Holidays grant programme is now live and groups and organisations can access the full guidance and online application form on the Community Foundation for Calderdale’s website. The deadline for applications is 10am on Tuesday 29th June 2021.
£30 per day and days run from 9am to 5pm
Daily activities consist of the following
On an adrenaline day you’ll have an action-packed, none stop day filled with adventure from start to finish! Activities will include: the leap of faith, high all aboard, Jacobs ladder, climbing, abseiling, tree climbing, slack lining, low ropes and much more!
If you come on a creative day you’ll be out in the woods, personalising your own GO WILD t-shirt, building bird boxes, making walking sticks, catapults and other inventions. There’s plenty to do, finishing off with making some seriously good food!
Ever fancied yourself as the next Bear Grylls?! Think you’ve got what it takes to survive in the outdoors? Then get down to a survival day this summer. Learn how to build and light fires, cook on them, build shelters and even do some archery and coracle building!
It’s a catastrophe! You’ll need work together to find the clues and solve the mystery. Get ready for blood and gore as you learn how to handle any First Aid situation!
