The Better Living Service can help you lead a healthier life

Would you like to improve your health and wellbeing?  Do you feel you need some support to get started?  The Better Living Service are here to do just that!  We support the residents of Calderdale (aged 18+) to lose weight, become more active and reduce alcohol consumption.If your BMI is over 25 (check it here), you may be eligible to access 12 weeks free at Slimming World.  If you would like to become more active, we can support you to take the first steps and provide the motivation and advice to keep going! We can also support you to reduce your alcohol intake if you feel it’s time to cut down.

For more information, please see our website www.calderdale.gov.uk/betterliving or email us at blt@calderdale.gov.uk. Stroke Survivors ProgrammeThe Better Living Service run a programme of one-to-one support for anyone who has had a stroke within a 2 year period, to increase/maintain their levels of physical activity and ability. Following an initial assessment, each client sets their own goal and over the next 12 weeks, the trainer supports the client through a programme of exercises and activities to achieve that goal.  On completion of the programme, the client is matched to other relevant services that the client can access in order for their recovery to continue.

X-Pert Health Weight Loss and Wellbeing Programme starting May 9th

X-PERT Health is a Calderdale based charity providing members of the public with education programmes to help prevent or manage diabetes and other long-term medical conditions.

Believing in Educate not Medicate, they offer a course that will help users understand nutrition and diabetes in a way that will encourage improvement in their health.

The course, hosted by Diabetes Specialist Educator runs for 12 weeks with 1 session per week on Zoom, covering a different topic each week.

Please note, this weight and wellbeing course is for general interest and it is not specific to people with diabetes.

We myth bust many dated concepts that focus on eating less and moving more. Through evidence based learning we shos you how your body uses food and how different dietary approaches impact your weight and overall wellbeing.

Grants from the Weight Management Fund – Deadline Nov 22nd

CFFC have launched a new grant, available to organisations who offer help to adults who want help managing their weight.
Through the Weight Management Fund, you can apply for grants of £5,000 before 22nd November to deliver adult weight management programmes that focus on weight loss. This includes voluntary and community sector organisations and local private businesses.

About the Fund

The fund is open to any organisation based in Calderdale that can delivery an adult weight management programmes that focus on weight loss. This includes voluntary and community sector organisations and local private businesses.

They must include support around dietary intake, physical activity and behaviour change and provide participants with support for at least 12 weeks.

Funding can be used to cover staffing costs and running costs for delivery of the programme but should not be used for capital costs such as purchasing equipment or setting up apps or websites.
